The Philadelphia Flyers got a big win against the Oilers today, but maybe more importantly, captain Claude Giroux finds the back of the net and now officially has more goals then me this season.
Giroux ended a 21 game scoreless drought in the 3rd period and the smile on his face said it all. He had a few real good scoring chances in the 2nd period, but was still unable to find the twine. Frustration would be an understatement for both the fans and him, but in the third, he would not be denied.
Scott Hartnell also registered a goal in the contest. Hopefully this is the beginning of these two finding the net regularly. Giroux clearly has been feeling the pressure and had a giant weight lifted today. I don't know who was happier; Claude or the fans? We know what this man is capable of and it was time to get on track, and hopefully we will be seeing the scene above a lot more often.
The fans were behind him 100% all season long and breathed a deep sigh of relief when he lit the lamp for the first time this season. Both parties were happy to see him net a goal to seal the win over the Oilers. The Flyers have a lot of making up to do, but their schedule this week should allow them to do so. Hopefully, Hartsy and Giroux will start getting their confidence back and score more goals. The first one is always the hardest... now we have that out of the way, Claude. As you go, the team goes, I hope you're getting that swagger back because it's go time!
