Which Win is the Bigger Win?

by Blake Anthony November 13, 2013

The 76ers beat The Houston Rockets behind a former Rocket, James Anderson. His 6 of 8 shooting from beyond, 12-16 from the floor overall. He also went 6 for 6 from the charity stripe, and finished the game with 36 points. Anderson, drained a 3 with 5.5 seconds left to tie the game, and send it into overtime. The Sixers took control late in the fourth quarter holding the Rockets to zero points over the last 3 minutes in regulation, and a minute plus in overtime. The 76ers kept Dwight Howard in check, especially in the final minutes of the game. Spencer Hawes just out hustled and out played one of the top centers in the game. MCW sat out tonight’s game, as did James Harden for Houston. The Sixers proved that Carter-Williams, may be the future of this team at PG, but they also proved they are a well-rounded team that does not rely on any single player to get them a W. Not to be over shadowed, Tony Wroten quietly racked up his first career triple-double, with 18 points, 11 dishes, and 10 boards.

The Flyers, also in action tonight, played cross state rival and best team in the Eastern Conference, Pittsburgh Penguins. The Flyers took the early 1-0 lead off a great play in the corner by “Simmer” as we call him. A feed for a wide open Braydon Schenn was all that was needed, as he bangs the shot off the inside of the post and into the net. Crosby tied the game in the 2nd period but Schenn found the net again, to put The Flyers up 2-1 and that is where it stayed. The Flyers have their first 3 game winning streak of the season. Ray Emery was stellar between the pipes, stopping 30 out of 31 shots thrown his way.

The Flyers have come on strong this week, and this 76ers team, a team projected to win 16 games, has now won 5 games, and remain over the .500 mark through the first 9 games of the season. Do you think this Flyers team has put their woes behind them? Is this Sixers team the most underrated team in recent history? All I know is, both teams are playing well and getting wins. Both teams also have a long road ahead of them.
