As the flowers start to bloom and the allergies arise, outdoor events in Philadelphia are starting to pop up everywhere. Here are some of the fun outdoor events that Philadelphia has to offer this May.
Night Market Old City
On May 15th Old City will host the Night Market, a street food festival that will showcase food trucks, beer and art. This event located in one of the most beautiful sections of Philadelphia will showcase the small local eateries in Old City. Sponsored by Yards Brewing Company, the Night Market in Old City will also host a mobile art collaboration in between The Clay Studio and The Center for Art in Wood to showcase some of the unique art found in our city.
The Italian Market Festival
On the weekend of May 17 and 18, South Philadelphia closes down their streets to honor the country’s oldest continually running open market. The festival brings thousands of vendors selling meat, cheeses, other foods and much more to represent the strong culture of South Philadelphia.
The air will be filled with the great signatures of The Italian Market, including fresh sausage and peppers, cheese, salads, pasta, flowers and more. The festival will also offer live music, and cooking demonstrations by some of the top chefs in Philadelphia.
The Roots Picnic
The month of May ends with a bang with the Roots Picnic on May 31st. Penn’s Landing will be flooded with people as the seventh annual Roots Picnic provides musical acts from a wide variety of genres. Some of the acts which were hand picked by The Roots include Snoop Dogg, A$AP Ferg, Janelle Monae, and Action Bronson.
