Stephen Strasburg strikes out 9 batters and picks up 3rd win as the Phillies lose to the Nationals 6-1. Cole Hamels strikes out 6 Nats, but loses his 8th game of the season after a sloppy 7th, where the Nationals scored 5 runs (3 earned). Hamels was pulled for Justin De Fratus, who allowed one hit and two strikeouts to end the inning. Howard started on the bench today, despite a Kevin Frandsen ejected where Laynce Nyx replaced Frandsen at 1st. Charlie would hand Howard the bat to pinch hit for De Fratus in the 8th with the bases loaded and no outs. Howard couldn't deliver and instead he grounded in to a double play, pushing Revere over to third. Strasburg would balk Ben Revere in from third for the Phillies only run, making it 6-1 Nats. Revere had the best day for Phils, going 2 for 3 with the on run. The 3, 4, and 5 hitters (M. Young, D. Young, D. Brown) couldn't buy a hit today, totally 6 of 9 strikeouts for Strasburg. Philles travel up to Boston for a 7:15 game with Tyler Cloyd (1-0, 2.75 ERA) getting the nod for the Phils and Alfredo Aceves (1-1, 8.20ERA) for the Red Sox.
