Last night on America's 237th birthday, ESPN's Pierre LeBrun unofficially announced that the Flyers had signed captain Claude Giroux to an 8-year/$66 million extension.

It wasn't until early on Friday morning that the Flyers "officially" announced Giroux's extension, with the additional detail of his "no movement clause" in the 8-year extension.
